Body Language for Public Speakers

Grace Mutua · 20 July 2026 · 7 min read

Every strong speaker was once an anxious first-timer. What changes isn't the nerves disappearing — it's learning to work with them.

Body Language for Public Speakers starts with a decision most students skip: deciding exactly what you're trying to achieve before you open your mouth or your notebook. At Pioneers, that decision is the first thing we drill, well before technique.

From there, the work is mostly repetition. Coaches watch for the same three or four mistakes across a cohort, correct them one at a time, and move on once a habit sticks rather than once a single attempt goes well.

The students who improve fastest aren't the most naturally gifted — they're the ones who show up to the unglamorous practice rounds, take specific feedback, and apply it the very next time rather than the time after.
